The Sheep turns out some lovely dishes - Welch Rarebit, Smoked Trout Pate’, Mixed greens w/ Bleu cheese toasts, and Fish & Chips are among my favourite offerings at this rather traditional British pub**. Snuggle into the sofa in front of the fireplace for a pint and a snack, and by all means bring the kiddies (before 11 pm).
Quick note: In the past the service has been a bit spotty - sometimes fantastic, sometimes bordering on being ignored. That seems to have improved of late.
It’s a great place to have a sizable party if you’re all paying on the same table, but be warned if you’re dropping by with a larger, non-hosted group for drinks and snacks: No separate cheques, and there’s an 18% gratuity added in, so be prepared to bring your calculators to see who owes what.
Spotted Dick, btw, is a dessert with cake and custard, kids ... so just stop it ... ;-)
