La Casa Del Pueblo
1209 Siskiyou Blvd - 541- 482-5092
The only issue I have with La Casa Del Pueblo is the cookie cutter feel of the menu. If you go to the Mazatlan Grill in Central Point, Guadalajara or Si Casa Flores in Medford or that other place on the J’ville Hwy across from the old Thunderbird ... you get the identical offerings. Even the carpeting and upholstery are the same.
But frankly that’s just snobbery on my part. The fact is the food at LCDP is really good, and there’s plenty of it (the oh-my-god-I-can’t-believe-I-ate-that-entire-platter translation of 'plenty'). Their service is snappy, and their margaritas are damned near lethal.
Oooh, and don’t forget to order flan. You won’t have room for it after your meal unless you have special powers, but they’re happy to package it up for you in a pretty little clear plastic box to take home. Totally worth it. Trust me.
Special note: Sunday has a two-for-one special: I think it’s just on the combination plates, plus you’re required to buy two drinks (even soft drinks qualify, though), but it’s seriously one of the best bargain’s in town.
